In the United States, Black Friday follows Thanksgiving Day which is held on the fourth Thursday in November and is often heralded as the beginning of the Christmas shopping season. One explanation for the name comes from the theory that retailers traditionally operate at a financial loss or “in the red” from January through to November, and “Black Friday” marks the point at which retailers begin to turn a profit, or come back “in the black.”
To celebrate this day we are taking part in “Black Box Friday,” which is a Camden Market promotion on 28th November 2014. Throughout the day a number of black boxes will be hidden around the various markets in Camden. In each box there will be a variety of give-aways, promotions and discounts from traders in addition to a grand prize of £250 to be spent anywhere in the market (with an extra £250 to the winner’s charity of choice). We are giving away four of these beautiful yellow Butterfly lanterns which would make a great festive decoration to enhance any Christmas dinner table.
To be in with a chance to win, visit Camden Market on Black Friday and follow the clues which will be posted on Social Media which will lead you to the Black Boxes and some amazing prises!
The Yellow Butterfly lanterns that we are giving away are free standing or may be hung from a hook on the ceiling. They measure 10 by 10 by 18 cm and one side of the lantern is a hinged door. Inside the lantern is a holder for a tea-light candle.
