Vintage Banjara Toran
Traditionally torans are hung above a door and would be one of the first things that welcome guests as they step across the threshold of your home. They can also be displayed as a window decoration or wall hanging, adding a touch of boho decor. Each piece is unique, one-of-a-kind textile art.
The embroidery and mirrorwork in this toran are typically the handicraft of women of the nomadic Banjara tribe from Western India. The intricate needlework must have taken many weeks to complete.
Measurements: The length is 76cm, and the main body depth is 39cm. The length of the pendants is an additional 22cm. The tassels are 7cm.
Condition: This is a handmade, vintage textile, so expect to find irregularities that add to the toran's beauty and should not be seen as defects. Some of the mirrors are missing, and several more are cracked. One of the tassels is missing; otherwise, it is in good vintage condition.
